Bucket Contents View - Beta 10.27

Postby Squeek3 on Tue Oct 30, 2007 1:03 pm

In the August version, when I selected a bucket, its contents were displayed at the highest hierarchy, and I would drill down (1 layer at a time) to find the desired file.

When I installed 10.27, the entire contents of the bucket are displayed (in my case, several hundred line items). I find this more difficult to work with.

Am I experiencing a bug, or was this a deliberate design change? If a design change, is there any way I can configure Bucket Explorer to restore the hierarchy view?

Thank you.

Squeek3, It was a design change to get better performance on buckets with several thousand files.

We need to document this on download page, and will do so very soon. This is what you need to do to fix this:

Click on Tools - Create virtual Folders for backward compatibility and then choose the specific bucket or choose ALL.

This should create virtual folders like

myfoldername_$folder$

If you have a lot of files, this may take a few moments, but this is a one time change. After that the folder listings should be faster than August release.

Sorry for not making it clear on the download page.

Thank you! This worked for me, and I do notice the improvement in performance.
