Data Transfer in Bucket Exporer

Postby Jenilia Farez » Wed Jun 23, 2010 5:36 am

Hi,

I am new to the Bucket Explorer. i want to know how it helps me to upload many files having size of 10 MB or more in such condition like power goes down or internet gets disconnected and the uploading process is in the middle.Because i know in such situation we have to repeat the entire process from scratch and consequently pay extra bucks. So it is going to be a costly deal. How bucket explorer deals with such situation?

Thanks,

By using Bucket Explorer, you can optimize your data transfer and handle such type of situations more efficiently. If some how your document fails to upload in mid way, next time you only need to upload the remaining piece of data not the entire data. Hence it does not cost you more.

Ok, Lets suppose you are uploading the folder contains 10 files using Bucket Explorer, this operation will be started in a queue.Unfortunately the upload operation happens to be stopped while uploading 7th file due to any reason such as network failure, the process gets failed for that file and so the remaining 3 files are left to be uploaded. Bucket explorer also retry for the files which have not been uploaded or get failed.
If next time you upload the same folder, then you will see, those files that were uploaded already in previous upload operation, will not be uploaded again and you get identical status for these files. Those files which were failed , only gets uploaded this time.

Hello,

Yes, Bucket Explorer supports the compare feature , you can compare your data of Amazon s3 bucket with another s3 bucket, with same or different s3 account.
You can also compare your local data with another amazon s3 bucket.

For this follow this steps:

1. Run the Bucket Explorer.
2. After successfully authenticating with your credentials, click on the comparer button at Bucket tool bar.
3. It will open the comaprer window.
4. Here you can select source and destination account which will list the s3 buckets of selected s3 account.
4. Now select desired bucket from left and right panel of comparer. select the type of comparison that is Compare with "Name and Size" or "Name and Hash" and then click on comparer content if you want to get compare content of the folder or click on compare file if you want to get compare only listed files.
