When we overwrite an existing object with new contents then a new version is created for that object if Versioning is set.
My question is that when i update the metadata of an object then also a version was created. Why?

Hi,

Whenever we change the content or overwrite the data or update meta data i.e update the header information, then Amazon S3 creates a new version for that object.
