Unfortunately a lot of the improvements that people are asking for cannot be made because of amazon limitations. I just hope they make those changes.

Thanks for your replies. In many ways S3 is just getting started so I am sure we'll see some of those improvements on Amazon's end. In the meantime, Bucket Explorer seems positioned very well to do very well and adapt quickly to changes. Thanks again.

On the other hand since you now have to first download the object, change its name and then re-upload the object Amazon gets paid both ways. Maybe (in the short term) they won't allow rename as then that will cut into their revenues. However when Google comes on-line with its competing service then we will see lots of features being added.

Moving this topic to deferred features forum. Most if the items from this post are done as of Oct. release, except these two:
1. Rename of files located on S3.
2. File count for a bucker.
