Access via Keys

Postby Tom K » Fri Feb 26, 2010 4:00 pm

I have a client who has a 3rd party managing their downloadable files on S3. The 3rd party has set up access to that bucket using a dummy id and supplied us with the Access Key and Secret key for that dummy account. Here is what he has told us:
I granted that dummy ID full control access to the bucket. You can see it as the bottom entry in the Access Control List below. I used the canonical ID so that’s that big character string. I have tested those access keys and they work for uploading, downloading, deleting, etc in the renow bucket. With things setup in this way, if you use the keys above, I’ll be able to change my master owner keys an never worry about these keys again.

The programmer has used that Access Key and Secret key to enable uploads and downloads through the web site, but I would like to be able to manipulate the files in that bucket using "Bucket Explorer."

Is there a way that I can connect to that bucket using Bucket Explorer?

I tried setting up an account in Bucket Explorer using those keys, but when I connect I get the following message:
You have not subscribed at Amazon S3 Services, please click Sign Up to subscribe for Amazon S3 or click on continue to access the Buckets from third party.

If I hit the "Continue" button it appears to connect, but I do not see the bucket I'm trying to access.

Is it possible to connect to a bucket set up this way with Bucket Explorer?

Thanks!
Tom

Hi Tom,
After successfully login ,
For accessing any third party shared Bucket first you need to add third party Bucket name using below option
Tools->Bucket Sharing ->Access shared bucket from friend's account
It will open a window
add your third party bucket name , click on ok button after that Bucket will be listed in Bucket table .
now you will be ready to work with this third party shared bucket according to your access rights.

For more about access third party shared Bucket refer this link:
