Improve the Logs, the Progress Bar

Postby 1_more_usr » Wed Sep 12, 2007 7:19 am

Hi,
I like the product and imagine it will improve immensely as time goes by.

I was doing an upload over night and would have expected to find my files there in the morning, but rather found nothing and the BE was retransmitting the first file again. I looked into the logs to see what happened, but the information there was pretty much useless. BTW, I had debug also turned on.

So my suggestion is to improve the logs:
+ to log the file being transferred, together with the transmission and completion status.
+ to be able to view the logs directly from the tool.
+ to be able to configure the folder where the logs are saved to.

Further features I'd like to see:
+ a calculated transmission speed in the progress bar.
+ a list of the files queued for transmission, with possibly an option to edit and amend it while the transmission of the file on top of the queue is in progress.

Thanks. We will try to put these features in the October release (the september release is already in the QA). You should be seeing the file currently being transferred in the logs.

Also, are you suggesting that the program was running all night and did not upload anything? Can you send us the log file? You can zip it up and upload via this link:

Again, thanks for the feedback. We appreciate it.

Yes, it ran all night and in the morning it seemed like doing everything all over. When I left it yesterday evening it had progressed further than it had today morning. I was transferring 3 files, 300MB, and 2x80MB over to my S3 account. Today morning, I didn't find the files in the bucket and saw them being re-transferred. I have ASDL with a 2kBit outgoing connection - so the 300MB take quite some time to transfer.

Sorry, don't have the logs any more. I deleted them since I don't like a product cluttering up my "C:\Program Files" directory. I'll take care not to do so when reporting a problem in the future. But I did look into them and could not find any information about interrupted transmissions, nor about the files I was attempting to transfer. That's also the reason I deleted them.
